Guide
Slow internet usually has one main cause. Work through these steps in order and you will know whether to fix your setup or call your provider.
Run a speed test on Wi-Fi, then again with a network cable next to the router. If the cable result is much faster, your Wi-Fi is the problem. If both are slow, the issue is the router or your provider.
If a cable test shows less than half your plan at several different times of day, the problem is probably your provider. Keep a record of your results — the History page exports a CSV and a PDF complaint report — and share it when you complain.
See how your connection compares — it takes about 20 seconds.
Run a speed testEvening hours are peak time. If many users share the same network capacity, speeds drop. Testing at different times shows the pattern to your provider.
